My canon quick menu wont load9/24/2023 ![]() ![]() It's just a mess, I can't really recommend it outside of the second episode, which feels like an episode from a much better series. The show tells you who every skrull is basically as soon as the character enters their scene save one. It took what should have been an espionage thriller with a ton of twists and turns and turned it into a really strangely straightforward "good guy vs. ![]() Feels like a total waste of the concept and you can feel the strain of multiple rewrites leading to basically no payoff for anything. Weirdly low energy, not particularly thrilling, very little actual spying. ![]() I already tried carefully explaining some stuff that there where movies ‘before’ the MCU like multiple Spider-Mans and that has been pretty fun :p But don’t want to make it too complicated He will be introduced and they will see a follow up in She-Hulk which falls in line with the whole introduction/appearance the MCU does I really need to think a bit ahead tho less is better? Sure it doesn’t hit the same as for me when I saw Daredevil actor in the Spidey movie but what gives. But also Dardevil series who is gonna add 5 seasons of that (while it is great tho.) I should? But doing all that to my mom and sis is a bit too muchĭoing a watch with people who really don’t know anything about superhero movies is kind of a difficult task by itself I must say! I already have it with the Spideys, now Logan. I actually haven’t watched many Fox movies myself funny enough. I already made the difficult decision to not do the Tobey and Garfield series as those movies just add up so quickly Yeah for me I think it would be okay to see some movies but I don’t really want to do them a whole Fox-men watching. But obviously part of the hook of "Old Man Logan" is seeing the difference between him and the younger Logan in the first movies. Logan is probably "fine" as a standalone alone, they establish everything you need to know pretty quickly - there used to be superheroes called the X-Men, Logan was one of them, now they're gone and the world is sad. ![]() Superhero movies aren't especially complicated, more context enriches it but lack of context doesn't (usually) detract from it. It's not really different than the MCU, you can hop in wherever and figure out the broad strokes. With the Deadpools and New Mutants being their own thing, Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix being worthless, and Origins being. I think the "necessary" Fox-Men watchlist is probably: Really, it depends on how comfortable people are with hitting the ground running, and that depends on the audience. It's less standalone than Logan is in that sense. So yeah, I'd say throw in The Wolverine at minimum, to get that dichotomy, but that kind of raises more questions - like, it's a direct followup to X3, and the post-credit scene leads directly to Days of Future Past. Not much else beyond that.Ĭlick to shrink. That's a tough one. The only thing of real substance is Super-Skrull Gi'ah which.I mean yeah I'll take her and Monica reconnecting, get some pair-up action with superpowered Emilia Clarke and Teyonah Parris. However of all the MCU's recent missteps this is one where I definitely understand why it broke people.Īs for how to approach it in the future.again I don't really know what's there to take to begin with. I still enjoyed the little parts that were there, and I'll be honest I've been burned enough by TV shows to let pass anything that's just modestly enjoyable. Like it barely even leaves enough MCU lore behind and I don't know how a show with a concept this inherently political has nothing to say about anything. I would still throw in that what makes SI so disappointing on top of that is that there's a lot of parts with it that have potential (as a Marvel-ized modern spy thriller, as a Nick Fury series, as a darker MCU show, as an adaptation of the Secret Invasion comic event, etc.) and it falls short on basically every front. Except Quantumania was a two-hour movie whereas this was stretched out over six weeks, and there's a much bigger conversation to be had on Marvel failing to utilize the streaming format right and how much money they're blowing on it in the process. The best I can say about Secret Invasion is that it's essentially filler in the same way Quantumania was. ![]()
